We waited ages to be served and I had to ask at the bar whether 'we had to order at the bar' due to the long wait to take our order. Admittedly we could not get a table on the 18th so deferred to 19th, but that was not an issue - we ate at The Packhorse at Southstoke on the 18th with no problem (excellent food too). On the 19th @ H&A parties at both the other tables surrounding us were made very welcome and recived plenty of attention so our treatment stood out as different! Food very good indeed, but this could be their downfall, as complacency sets in when you think or know you're that good. We have 30+ relatives living in the area (since the 1950's) and we are moving this way within the year but we may not venture to the Hope & Anchor again.......
